To understand EN certified fireproof cabinets , let's first talk about the standard EN14470-1. EN 14470-1 is a safety standard for storing chemicals that was formulated in Europe in April 2004. Most people in China know about FM safety certification, but very few people know about the EN 14470-1 standard. In fact, the EN 14470-1 standard is much higher than the FM standard.
The EN 14470-1 standard contains three main basic safety requirements:
1: Reduce fires caused by chemicals stored in safety cabinets and improve the protection of these materials in the event of a fire. The latter further defines a fire resistance time (FR, unit: minutes);
2: Reduce chemical gas emissions into the environment;
3: Keep chemical gas leakage in the cabinet.
4: EN14470-1 contains 4 categories - flame retardant times of 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes respectively - to accommodate the different needs of EU member states. This standard is not fully acceptable to every Member State, as the new standard does not replace existing national regulations for the handling of flammable liquids in some EU Member States. For example, in Germany they will not accept safety cabinets with a flame retardancy of 15 minutes because they do not allow violations of existing operating safety regulations (BetrSichV) and Annex L of the Technical Regulations for Flammable Liquids (TRbF).
EN certified fireproof cabinet
Fireproof cabinets that comply with EN certification generally have the following characteristics:
1. Fire resistance
In the event of a fire, it must be ensured that the chemicals stored in the safety cabinet do not create additional risks and prevent the spread of the fire within no less than 15 minutes.
EN 14470-1 safety cabinets can be classified as follows according to their fire resistance:
Type 15 - The fire resistance of the fireproof cabinet is not less than 15 minutes;
Type 30 - The fire resistance of the fireproof cabinet is not less than 30 minutes;
Type 60 - The fire resistance of the fireproof cabinet is not less than 60 minutes;
Type 90 - The fire resistance of the fireproof cabinet is not less than 60 minutes Not less than 90 minutes;
